چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aims: Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) is an important multidrug-resistant opportunistic pathogen frequently causing various nosocomial infections and is a serious threat to burn patients. These infections are usually caused by the outbreak strains. The aim of this study was to show antibiotic resistance pattern and molecular typing of A. baumannii genes isolates collected from burn patients and also distribution of different types of burn patients. Materials and Methods: In this study, 307 different strains were detected. Totally 100 A. baumannii strain was selected in burn center of Isfahan hospital. Antibiotic resistance pattern was determined by disk diffusion method (Kirby Bauer). The presence of genes coding in antibiotic resistance were analyzed by using multiplex-PCR method. The standard strains of Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and A. baumannii ATCC 19606 were used as negative and positive controls. Results: The antibiotic resistance pattern for A. baumannii showed high resistance for ciprofloxacin, ceftazidime, and tetracycline with frequency of 82.5%, 75.3%, 72%, respectively. Moreover, the most sensitive antibiotics were chloramphenicol, and nitrofurantoin with the resistance frequency of 3.9% and 2.8%. CITM (91.1%) was the highest detected gene. Conclusions: High prevalence of antibiotic resistance pattern among A. baumannii isolated from burn center hospitals indicates the important role of multidrug resistant isolates.

Drug Resistance Patterns and Genotyping of Acinetobacter baumannii Strains Isolated from Patients Admitted to Shahrekord Teaching Hospitals Using REP-PCR

Background & objectives: In recent years, Acinetobacter baumannii has been shown to be associated with several nosocomial infections, including pneumonia, bacteraemia, urinary tract infections, wound infection and meningitis. This organism can survive in the hospital environment and rapidly develops resistance to many antibiotics. The molecular genotyping can increase our knowledge about the sp...

Antibiotic resistance patterns among Acinetobacter baumannii strains isolated from burned patients

Emergence and spread of Acinetobacter baumannii infections and resistance to most of the antibiotics are a global concern. Recently, we are facing with the development of multi drug resistance (MDR) A. baumannii. Since the organism causes outbreaks of infection and health care associated, the appropriate antibiotic choice for the treatment is a priority. This study was performance in order to e...

ABSTRACT             Background and Objectives: Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen that affects different groups of people, especially intensive care unit (ICU) patients. The prevalence of infections caused by this bacterium is very high. Today, prevalence of infections caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extreme-drug resistant (XDR) strains is increasing. This study aime...

Antibiotic resistance and phylogenetic characterization of Acinetobacter baumannii strains isolated from commercial raw meat in Switzerland.

The spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria through food has become a major public health concern because some important human pathogens may be transferred via the food chain. Acinetobacter baumannii is one of the most life-threatening gram-negative pathogens; multidrug-resistant (MDR) clones of A. baumannii are spreading worldwide, causing outbreaks in hospitals. However, the role of raw meat ...
